It helps a bit to hear from the teacher who had the bulk of this class for K last year that she went home many evenings the last couple of months of school only to cry her eyes out and wonder aloud whether she could make it through the rest of the year w/the group of rapscallions with whom I'm currently dealing and whom I'm trying to educate. At least it makes me feel not so bad, like it's not all my fault. The sub today got a dose of it himself after watching me struggle for the morning. The descriptive phrase "herding crickets" comes to mind. As does "herding cats."

Thank it's over for this week! Am torn between wanting to relax and wanting to go out. P'rhaps will do both. Collapse now for a bit, then head out to play for a bit. Need a bit of a boot to the brain to restart myself. Maybe a movie. We shall see...
