Ripped off wholesale from anansi133 who ganked it from boingboing. And if someone could teach me how to embed the link itself in a nice clicky thingie which'll open up a new page rather than make you click on the Read More than click again, that'd be swell. Yes, I know you've told me before, but I'm feeling very Bear of L'il Brainish today. Ta!

To embed a link, type


<a href="


and then the url for your destination, complete with http:// at the beginning


">

And then the description of the link that you want people to see highlighted in blue-this is what they'll click on

</a> <-lets the browser know that the link is finished and it can go back to regular text.

So if I wanted to steer people to linking help, I might type it:

<a href="http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=67">Embed Links</a>

or, if you want it to open a new window when they click on the link, do what anansi said, but after the quote and before the more-than symbol, type a space and then target=new and then your close bracket (otherwise known as the more -than symbol)
