I haven't wanted to go...it (and I) being a couple decades too late. But now...now I've learned of a cuz who'll be getting hitched there this year...and I'd like to be there for that. Damg!
It's fun, and you should go if you can, now, while it's still fairly pure. The magic is still there til Friday, but I think Saturday is lost to us. Sunday evening is still pretty good too.
The more people, the sparser the magic. It gets bigger every year. Still, I'm talking Lorriet. You could camp with us.
And oh, the crowds. They only get really big on saturday night around the man or at the big dance camps. Otherwise, it's still pretty intimate. The place is almost five square miles.
If you gave everyone an even share of the camp, we'd each get over 500 square feet EACH. In my book, thats not really that crowded.
I don't think I'd even consider trying it out alone...thx for saying this. So much else going on that it's wacky to even consider it...but apparently that's what I'm doing (considering it, that is).
Well, heh, just noticed I misspelled that in my enthusiasm.
So, who's getting married?
Nothing so complex involved in camping with me. Basically, we could share the little ez up and tarp floor I'm bringing - maybe some carpet too. It's nice to get off the playa for a bit, and it keeps the dust down.
I'd be bringing a stove and tables and chairs. You could kick in some propane and food and decor and companionship. Out there, it's all about style and companionship.
One of my fave cousins to his long-time g-friend. So cannot think 'bout this now...am trying to juggle so many other things...but will tuck it away into the marinating chamber of my mind 'til I return from a week in the Pacific NW at the end of the month into early May... How many times have you been to BM?
Lets sit down at the Italian place, early next week. Greeters camp, low key, has power, can rent a motor home (with air conditioning), and "plug into the grid" for power.
No drama, low key. 200 feet from Center camp, give or take 50 feet.
Oh, but you have to do three 4 hour greeters station shifts, which are pretty painless, considering the advantage of pumping contracts for your RV, water deliveries, and free power.
Once with Fandango, the rest with Gigsville. I'm considering going back to fandango this year, but I haven't decided yet.
You'll need to decide at least 6 weeks in advance in order to get a ticket at a NOT ridiculous price (don't get me started on ticket prices) and get it in the mail before you have to leave. Also, you would have to read ALL the newbie info on the website. It's for your own safety. The place is amazing, and amazingly dangerous for the unprepared.
I always seem to get in on the dying end of activities like Burning Man, Renn Faire and such. I've so far avoided Burning Man myself cuz the air particle factor is daunting. You gonna try to go?
