On the Lighter Side

I'm still a kid at heart. Took a friend on one of my standard tours this eve: we wandered Main Street, looking at the windows (realizing I need to return again when they're open), then walked the Santa Monica Pier, watching folks fish, smelling the ocean - salt, kelp, wood pilings, fish scales) all the while, then riding the ferris wheel...and I was happy & carefree again, as always: the full moon reflecting off the ocean, the lights visible Southward to PV and Northward through Malibu and up to Pt Dume. I'm a sucker for views...and good smells. Been wanting to camp again. Will do so mid-June, perhaps before. But now I'm starting to keep busy...to fill in my social calendar. Must slow this down. Must slow down. So much to do...but want to stop and enjoy it...like tonight, when we companionably leaned against the railings, each thinking our own thoughts, enjoying the night air, the crashing surf. I like my life.
