The last couple of days it's promised to be a lovely day, starting out all sunny and bright, then fading mid-day (at/near Noon) to gray, drizzling first then definitively raining. Today it's decided not to promise anything and just start out gray and wet. Perhaps at lunchtime it'll clear up and get blue and sunny. I've been reading like a fiend, plowing through hundreds of pages each day, getting caught up and lost in fiction: Interesting Times and Going Postal (T Pratchett Discworld novels), Southhampton Row (Anne Perry Victorian mystery/thriller), Call of the Halidon (R Ludlum political thriller set mostly in Jamaica).

I'd thought (hoped?) I'd spend a chunk of time up here thinking 'bout stuff & things, mebbe even figuring out whatEVER, but if'n that's happening, it's undercover, all subconcious-like, not proactive. Not that it's particularly bothering me, I'm just saying. Mebbe it's not time for thought but for action. And I could DO more stuff here, but I'm NOT doing so much. Mebbe I could/should not beat myself up for this, mebbe I can just BE for a bit w/out wondering what if and why not and what about and...

Today: it's here, it's grey, I'm gonna start (well, continue, as I began by brushing my teeth, letting the cat out, and getting on-line) by sippint hot tea w/sugar & cream and munching a peach scone from Sconehenge spread liberally, nay, glopped w/blood orange marmalade. And then: ...

*Hugs* I hope your day gets sun-shiny-er! Wish you lived closer.. I'd love to be able to just get together with you for coffee... sooner then at the end of this month...

Grey?

Speaking as a new Washingtonian, I am a little confused: Is it grey, as in slate grey? Uniform grey? Grey with sunbreaks? Greyish white? Blue grey? Dark grey? Drizzly sfumato grey? Nor'wester squall grey? On the f64 grey scale is it a 6?

You see, here in Tacoma there are over 100 words for grey.

Funny thing, within minutes of hitting Post, the grayness started to fade and now, although filled w/lovely clouds, the sun's peeking out...and I've managed to get going on projects - got tix for the quickie LAX-PHX trip this w'end for the final day of Renaissance Fest and to help a friend unpack and to get caught up and do some hiking, found the CDs I KNEW were in the collection for listening to. However, I concur re: closeness and coffee.

So, what're property prices like out where you are...it's time to get a place and it so ain't affordable anywhere here in CA. And I wish I could get my hands dirty and garden w/you, too, as it's something I've always wanted to do but have only done a bit of, mostly this past year w/a friend who's been preggers and then weighted down w/newborn and I quite like it...it's in my genes, but I haven't donned 'em nearly 'nuff. Later...must keep at it while the irons're hot!

Property prices: Hmmm.. it depends on where you want to be. We paid a bit under $180,000 for this place (3 bed/2 bath 2.6acres)... Which was about average a year ago. I'm not sure what the prices are doing right now.. what I did when I was looking was go on the website: realtor.com and plug in city & state names & look at pricing. If you're looking up in this area, let me know what sort of area you'd prefer (more in town vs. rural) and I can point you in the direction of the good areas.... Of course, I'm really partial to the Yelm/Rainier area... *grins*.. We're about 30 minutes out of Olympia (job market)... 2 hours from Portland; 2 hours from Seattle; an hour from Tacoma... 2 hours from the beach; 2 hours from Mt. Rainier... pretty darn convenient...

Our zip code is 98576 .. I plugged that into the search engine and then looked at the properties in the area... it kind of depends on what area you want to be in... and how far you are willing to drive for work...

*grins*.. Or you could just fall madly in love with our place, and we could add onto the house.... I could always use an extra pair of hands for the garden...
