The Drive Up (PCH-101-152-1-17-280)
Mar. 26th, 2006 10:54 amHordes of wild mustard roamed the fields, medians, orchards. Along w/the lovely yellow flowers, greenery covered everything everywhere - that light pale yellowish at times green of early Spring. Dotting the field: horsies, cows, goats, oaks, grapes. Glorious!
When the sun began sinking low in the sky as I hit Gilroy, I acted on a urge - dunno whether 'twas intuition or just an urge or really what the difference is 'tween these concepts/beings/thingiemabobs - and bopped onto the 152-W in hopes of watching the sun set into the ocean. That didn't happen (clouds got in the way), but the drive was amazingly wonderful and as I drove amongst the redwoods, now and again looking out over everything all the way to the ocean, my mood rose and rose and phoenixed quite nicely...THIS is what I've been missing, what I've been needing, what I didn't even know I wanted/needed.
All along the way my musical selections rocked - hard at times w/much over-and-over-againing of Deep Purple, with a long foray into the Brandenberg Concertos (1st 3 this time 'round), and assorted stuff at times w/some compilations I'd made and forgotten about but managed to grab along for the ride and pop in at just the right time. Again, intuition or urge? Are urges chrystallized intuition? I do believe strongly in giving into urges, while keeping in mind possible logistical downfalls therefrom. Yes, I had to - but I think of it as GOT TO - drive Hwy 17 from Santa Cruz to San Jose in the near-dark, but I love that road...it take me back. Yes, it does.
Stopped off at Garage (walking distance from the folks') for soup & salad for din-din, then relaxed, started laundry, took a bubbly bath, read, and finally curled up w/Taj (kitty) and slept soundly. Right now the kitty (age 2), snake (26+), and tortoise (29+) are basking in the sun. I'm gonna go out and do the same myself in a while: walkies and baskies.
Oh, the computer's clock appears to believe today's January 2, 1970. Will check w/mom before changing it in case there's a (good) reason for this oddity.
