Yesterday's e-mail in-box offerings included one supposedly from someone/something called webmaster@yahoo.com w/the re: line of NOTICE OF ACCOUNT LIMITATION and the little paperclip doohikey telling me there's an attachment w/in the or rather attached to or associated with or however it's called along with the e-mail. I'm scared to death of opening it but worried that mebbe it's something real from Yahoo, although the ALL CAPS strikes me as odd. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yahoo will never send you an attachment without you contacting them first.

'Cept I DID contact 'em not so long ago to tell 'em about a funky/fishy e-mail supposedly from them that I fwd'd along to security 'cause it was obviously bad news. Still, it's gone now.

here is a basic rule. unless you are having an active dialogue with and of the major ISP's like yahoo, ebay etc. they will not send you an attachment. and when they do they will tell you in an email that they are going to do it. Most likely they are phishing or attempting to virus you. :)

It is a bogus message.

The subject line tells you it is a reply. If you know you didn't send out any messages to that account (and you'd know) then it's fake. Called phishing.

I would send an email to Yahoo through one of the contact emails listed on their site to ask the question. Ask them if they would like you to foward the message to them. They may have a separate mail server to handle such things.

I get a lot of those "ACCOUNT PROBLEM" or "ACCOUNT SUSPENDED" or something "ACCOUNT" something from seemingly valid email addresses (like Paypal or Google). They are an attempt to get you to either reply (thus confirming your address as valid) or to reply to a specific site to put in personal information (thereby gaining marketing information and possibly important login information). Sometimes called "phishing" it's just another spam mail.

Thx! It's SPAM'd now. Last time I tried to figure out where to send it to through Yahoo's "Help" (HA!) function/menu, it just took too danged long.
