mlerules: (hello cthulhu)
Spent another hour on the phone with the IRS (mostly on hold), getting the last bit of info I needed to complete my letter to them which I got into the mail after a nice visit and food cart lunch w/[livejournal.com profile] lupagreenwolf.

Returned to Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden w/Lisa this afternoon. Goal: blossoms and ducklings. Boyoboy did we succeed in meeting our goals! Plenty of rhodies were in bloom (although a tad past the peak b'c of our unusually hot early May days). Uber-cute baby waterfowl were much in evidence. Goslings Galore! Delightful Ducklings (standard Mallard)! Wonderful Wood Ducklings! 'Twas really quite pleasant to wander around and enjoy the quite pleasant afternoon. Afterwards, we enjoyed a fine dinner of salad 'n' wings (yeah, we felt inspired ;-) at Fire on the Mountain.

After dropping Lisa off chez [livejournal.com profile] jaylake for the rest of the evening, I studied my options. Feeling pretty exhausted after hours in the hot sun, I chose just to stop by a friend's b-day party on my way home rather than travel cross town to join up w/other friends at Irving Kitchen. Had a very good time chatting w/folks and enjoying the 2nd Cthulhu Cake I've encountered in the past week. Is Cthulhu Cake the new Friday thing? We shall see...

Got up this AM w/no particular agenda beyond "tidy house & weed yards." Ended up heading out and scooping [livejournal.com profile] lupagreenwolf for first meal. Really nice time eating and chatting at OWT. Got back home again sometime after Noon. Changed into grubbies and proceeded to weed and de-dandelion the Hive's front yard, which'd gotten a tad outta control. While I was out, the next-door-neighbors had oh-so-kindly week-whacked the strip o' grass 'tween the sidewalk and street, which made it look far nicer. (My lawnmower's in the shop for the next week-and-a-half, so PHEW!) The backyard still needs attention, and I wanna get the rest of my container garden in soon, too.

Took a bit of a break to take care of bills &c., read s'more urban fiction, shower and put on non-grubbies in time for a nice dinner out for [livejournal.com profile] jaylake's Canceriversary party. Yeah, he'll die in 9-24 months, but it's still really good that he's lived five (5) years past his initial Dx.

Could've dressed up lots more (l'il black dress-level!) and headed out for a friend's surprise graduation party, but I felt all done-in socially. Yeah, even this highly extroverted socialite needs some stay-at-home time now 'n' again.

it's been hot out, which'll ease off soon (before the mercury shoots up again as the weeks pass). Dunno what the next phase holds, but that's okay. I'm feeling happy peppy good again. PHEW!
