Reconnecting
Dec. 14th, 2012 10:36 pmSo, I'm down in the Bay Area for a memorial svc (father of one dear friend 'n' uncle of another) on Sunday. It's sad, but this weekend's turned into quite a good opportunity for reconnections. Reminds me of one of the primary services of memorial services, TMM: to give those of us still around a chance to reconnect over the shared folks in our lives.
This weekend would've served as reconnection w/various folks up in WA, but instead, I'll get to see fambily & friends down here. This evening I got to hang out 'n' visit w/lotsa fambily, including step-nieces I've not seen in ages. O'morrow's an impromptu early x-mas w/Mom & hubby J & l'il bro & his GF. Sunday'll feature brunch w/dad 'n' his wife (along w/l'il bro & GF) before the mem'l svc. I figured I'd not see any of these folks 'til sometime next year, so this's become quite the good reconnection opportunity, even if'n for a sad reason.
Given recent news items/happenings, this matters lots to me right now, even more than it usually does. Reconnections w/folks from way back (Bay Area), seeing and spending time w/newer PacNW folks, strengthening newer even more local connections: this matters. People matter. Hugs&Loves&Togetherness matter.
