At Long Last
Mar. 17th, 2012 07:14 amMet yesterday and talked for the first time since the e-mail mid-August which heralded the break-up letter a few weeks later. (Well, 2/3 of us have talked, but 'twas the main bits of our portion of the V. All 3 of us eventually may talk as well, but this needed to happen first.)
The restaurant where we met happened to be playing as background music a selection of classic soul/S&B, which is to say, nada but songs 'bout love 'n' heartbreak. Heh. The (in)appropriateness of it made me - and him - smile and shake our heads at various points during the 90 minutes we epent there.
I am so glad this happened. We exchanged perspectives - and apologies for how things went down - and I came out of it w/a far-lightened heart. In fact, as the day progressed and I took care of certain things 'n' stuff around the Hive that's been building up but I've just not had the energy/willpower/oomph to do for ages now, I realized how much of a huge weight has lifted. Getting that stuff done yesterday afternoon felt oh-so-good, as did returning to Sapphire Hotel (one of my fave local hangouts) for a Happy Hour visit, and then finally taking a good walk up Mt Tabor and doing the trad'l 96 stairs up (no stopping) before returning home once again.
Closure's not the issue. Moving on w/my life is. And I am. And it feels really good to be here, in this state. PHEW!
