So, the update wasn't quite as easy as pie as I'd hoped. Something wrong w/my hard-drive. I don't know what exactly (can't remember what is said), but the "solution" appears to be to wipe the puppy clean in the process of installing the new beast (OS X Tiger). There's something else to try that's only middling extreme, but before doing anything further I'm doing a more complete and extensive (and better) back-up. Thank Dog for the pack of DVD-Rs I picked up back whenever they offered a buy these for $X and we'll send you a rebate for $X (in other words, I got 'em for the cost of a stamp). Have gone through and reduced my iTunes from 15+ gigs to less than one-third of that. Am now giving serious consideration to an iPod (when it fits into the budget) since I'll essentially be starting from scratch playlist-wise anyway. The DVD-burning continues. Will do the rest of the project next week (as my tech friend's gone home now and leaves o'morrow for the long w'end). Silver lining: I will soon have a full & proper back-up of everything I might need on this 'puter. (Or so I hope.)

EDIT: For whatever reason, my YahooMessenger's no longer functioning, responding w/my clicky-clicky w/a Question Mark through the icon. So I prolly won't be IMing 'til sometime next week.
