Nearly done w/MCLE. The end's in sight now. It's still over three (3) hours away, but I'm in the home stretch and it will happen.
Just had my first class, the quickie orientation Q&A heading towards b!tch session by the few who don't get it when the prof emphasizes "does anybody have any more GENERAL questions," as opposed to the specific b!tches/whines/moans which we all don't need or want to hear. Yeah, life's tough: get used to it!
Must - and think I am - readjust myself from PHUN and time for me and my projects and whatEVER the heck it is I feel like doing when I feel like doing it to a far narrower focus: school, or more importantly, TEACHING. I gotta get in there and make it mine, mold the minds, don't let 'em get moldy, make sure there's no cheese on the bottom (who gets the reference? Elise - I KNOW you know, so no cheating and saying), and stuff like that.
I've been saying "I don't think I can do this," although everyone else who knows me says I can do it and do it well. Time for me to figure out how to do it and that I want to do it and must do it -- and DO IT I must/will do. Scary stuff! Must be authoritative, in charge, the director, while making it (subject matter, be it spelling, subtraction, a new story, the state capitols, or whatever else the state in its infinite wisdom (ha!) dictates I spew/spread) interesting, relevant, and fun. How to merge classroom management and knowledge infusion? Guess I'll be figuring it out real soon now!
Prolly won't start 'til Tu, 2/22/05 or thereabouts. Actually, starting that day would be PERFECT, as it won't interfere (much) w/the trad'l fambily reunion thingiemabob in Yosemite the preceding (Prez Day) wend. I sha'n't be skiing again this year. Managed not to kill myself or break anything last year, but will not permit the Greater Ones any easy ways of messing w/me that early in the semester/this career.
So, I've got another few weeks of relatively "free" time to lunch, play, wander & roam. Next class is on Mon, 2/7, then nada for 3 weeks. Whoo-hoo!
Scared and excited by what's coming up, 'specially 'cause what it really is is ME on the line: can I do it, can I take the theory I expound fairly well and put it into action, can I DO WHAT IT TAKES TO DO IT RIGHT? Luckily there are several/many ways of doing it right, so if'n it doesn't work the first time (lesson 1), I can reformat it, refigure it, try it another way, and hopefully it'll all work out just fine.
