Was in bed, all cat-like, curled up and happy under the covers, feeling like a mass of sodden feathers, when all of a suddent the urge to hear "One Toke Over the Line" hit me. So I hauled my sory @ss outta bed to find and play it. Which led me back to this bit of pondering from yesterday: What’s the connection (if any) ‘tween urgings and longings? Perhaps U arise more suddenly while L have been thwarted for some time for some reason. Urges can turn into longings. You can also suddenly realize (become aware of) longings that’ve been around for a while. I’ve long been an avowed proponent of giving into urges. Only now I’m not so certain. I’m becoming…something…more conservative? Sensible? Rational? Guess the last one makes sense (as a word, but not as a necessarily good thing to give into). Giving yourself over to absolute rationality doesn’t have the same ring/draw to it as does absolute pleasure.

And now, as follow-up to the Constancy theme:

Just before our love got lost you said,
"I am as constant as a northern star."
And I said, "Constant in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be at the bar."

- Joni Mitchell - "A Case of You" from Blue (1971)

My mind's spinning oh-so-delightfully. The only thing tethering me to the planet's a simple single strand of saliva. Yes, my current spiritual glue consists primarily of drool. Which is just fine by me.
