Day 1 Sans FB
Nov. 11th, 2021 04:55 pmIt's not that I miss it in particular, but it's fascinating how thoughtless clicking on the FB phone icon has become. Several times today I've realized I've done it, only to close the app immediately. It's easy enough to avoid on the laptop. I've closed the FB and WWF tabs, so they're not there to tempt me - or to click on automatically. Sure, I COULD do something about the buttons on my phone, but I have a hard enough time getting the buttons to go where I want on my home screen that I'm loathe to move 'em and risk upsetting the entire applecart.
If'n I end up bailing on FB/IG altogether, then I'll bunch them somewhere off my home page (or at least stick 'em in a folder so it'll take two keystrokes to get at 'em instead of just one). I've emailed some today, and sent a Thank You card, and toyed w/the idea of sending postcards without actually getting off my duff and doing so. (Rolls eyes and wonders what's up w/THAT.)
Since it's a typical Fall PacNW day of wet and grey and cool, I've interspersed taking care of things and stuff with spells of sipping hot tea and reading a good book*. Not sure what I'm missing on-line, but at least - and thankfully - it's not niggling at me.
* The Hidden Palace - A Novel of the Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker.

Date: 2021-11-12 06:55 pm (UTC)(2) Do you not post elsewhere as well? Luckily I've long had the habit of posting pics on Flickr. This doesn't happen w/the same immediacy as on FB/IG, however. I'll usually download all my photos to my laptop after a trip or event or happening, then must find the time and energy to cull and organize and upload 'em. And for non-event items - most backyard bird/garden shots and/or 'round town pics - they won't go up until the following month when I'll post the big MISC Month album.
Heh, it's still a lot faster than the olden days when I'd have to wait until I finished up a roll of film (which could take months, since I was way more selective in what I'd photograph since it cost $), take it in for developing and printing, then went and pick up the pics when ready, possibly having more copies made if need by, and finally mailing off copies and (ideally) sticking them into a photo album.
Something something about the immediacy of posting on FB/IG, about On Demand, about NOW mattering so danged much when WHAT should matter more then NOW. Anyway, here're my albums: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8146112@N06/albums If'n you have somewhere else you post yours, I'd love a link. Or heck, email me some so I can see 'em! You take great pics, and I enjoy the glimpse into your working mind.
