What a marvelous weekend that was! Finished up my bday season and began Anniversary season last Thursday, with dinner at Portland City Grill after finding my bday brick at PDX's Pioneer Square (The Puffins). Mmmm, good food - and marvelous views! (Really wanted to use up the Costco gift cards - $50 for $35 - before something bad happened - https://trib.al/8qmmleH.)
Drove to the coast via Hwy 26-W then mbackroads of Lower Nehalem Rd - Foss Rd - Miami Foley Rd - Hwy 53 - Hwy 101 to Wheeler, OR. So much serious Fall Color! Had another fine meal at Rising Star Cafe in Wheeler, and stayed right on Nehalam Bay. Took long hot baths, enjoyed views of sunrise and sunset and wildlife andandand Drove up a ways to Oswald West State Park. Walked to Short Sands Beach and up to Kramer Memorial, seeing many lovely trees, surfers, ocean views &c.
Back yesterday and balanced all that Nature with much successful Bureaucracy today. 'Twas an amazingly short wait and simple process to get a corrected Social Security card so it matches my US Passport, &c. Again experienced short (as in NO) line for swapping out my paper tix for HOP cards at Pioneer Square TriMet office. As soon as I got to the window, over 2 dozen folks walked in the door, so PHEW! Errand #3 didn't go quite so smoothly, as the ENTIRE Amtrak payment system'd gone down earlier in the day. Still, I had no wait and the Union Station clerk made a note in my file and told me to try calling later in the day. I got through with minimal fuss and paid for my ticket, so all's well.
I rewarded myself for getting sh!t done with lunch at Mother's Bistro downtown. SO GOOD! Also got my flu shot (doing my bit for herd immunity) and my the car washed (very muddy after last weekend's backroading and I kept getting my pants muddified). Home now, taking care of this and that and t'other. Feeling good!
Oh, yeah - even though I fell far off the WW wagon last week, I got back on this week and remain under 200. 'Twas not hard at all walking up to the Kramer Memorial near Short Sands Beach either. SUCCESS all around!
