Took my step-mom & step-sis up the Columbia Gorge today for wildflowers and waterfalls. Much success! Rowena Plateau/Tom McMcall Preserve featured balsamroot & lupine galore, and more tiny less showy flowers, too. They've disappeared upstairs just now with the wildflower book to learn more in detail.

After a nice picnic at a random shady picnic table in a meadow in Mosier and a coffee break in Hood River, we transitioned to waterfalls (with more wildflowers, because that's how we roll). The old Columbia Hwy (Hwy 30) is open once again for driving right by Horsetail, Multnomah, and Latourell Falls. We got out and walked around at each of these, enjoying the loveliness, bonus wildflowers, and great weather. Somehow, the traffic home was light, even though by then it was prime rush hour. Phew!

I wish that posting photos here weren't such a royal PITA. I got some up on FB & Instagram and'll eventually post some on Flickr.

Tomorrow: Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in AM. Powell's Books (downtown) after lunch. Papa Haydn for dinner.

A good day. A fine day. An exhausting day. Sweet dreams, all...
