Monkey See, Monkey Do
Aug. 18th, 2005 10:04 amWe're at heart imitative. At first it's of those around us and who we're exposed to (including media we're exposed to such as TV, flims, album covers/innards, books, ideas). Role models make a big difference. Eventually we imitate ourselves (habits, ruts, repeated patterns). Wanna take more control of who/what I imitate/DO and how I act/react. Broadening horizons w/open mind helps me choose how I wanna BE, what I wanna DO, which ways I wanna live my life, which paths to traverse, when to (and who to) follow and when to branch off as I see fit/decide. Now I wanna map out possible paths in my mind, see where they go, having contingency plans along the way, but not be too put off by or scared by the simple fact o' life that we canNOT always know what's coming up and we canNOT fully prepare for it. Flying by the seat of our pants WILL happen and can be scary/unnerving...but it's a hell of a lot more interesting - and freeing - than choosing the straight and narrow and rarely deviating from what's expected. That way lays boredom - not my pref'd state. My way may lead to madness, but that's coo-el. Not a hurt other randomly (or purposely) sorta madness, a...not sure how to describe it, 'cause I don't think it's gonna happen. So I sha'n't try. It may be the end of the world as I know it, but I feel fine.
