I always find it a little bit odd when people "come out". It's not like straight people come out, you just figure they are straight when you see them with a partner of the opposite sex. I can see having to tell your friends or family if they're not really that tolerant, before you bring around a same sex partner. I just have mixed feelings when someone comes out, or is "outed". It's like if you're gay, you're not entitled to the same privacy as a straight person. Part of me is happy that the person doesn't feel the need to hide, and that honesty will bring acceptance and hope to anyone that has ever been not accepted for being anywhere in the LGBT spectrum. Another part of me is looking forward to the day when no one will have to call a press conference, or say "Dad, I need to tell you something" and being gay won't be any more newsworthy than having brown hair.
