B-Day Celebration
Aug. 22nd, 2010 10:40 pmTrad'l Sunday brunch this morning w/
ferociousbcycad, G&M, B (M's co-worker from Germany), and b-day gal S. Afterward, I followed L&S to Monkey & Rat (not Rat & Mole or Moose & Squirrel or Fox & Hound ;-) for some shopping. Since I was already downtown, I dove into the Pearl, Eureka'd REI, wandered 'round w/an eye for stuff needed for the upcoming week-and-a-half in the Canadian Rockies (car camping, bus/back-packing, and nice hotel'ing), hung out quietly at home (getting stuff done and chatting w/neighbors), took S out for her b-day dinner w/L, enjoying fine sushi (my first in Portland and delish!), then congregating back at the Hive w/S&L, and L for an impromptu whisk(e)y/rye/scotch/bourbon lesson (About.com and sampling) w/good conversation, ending w/a brandy vs. cognac tasting.

Clickie for Pics from this past weekend (well, Wed - Sat ;-) w/H&N visiting from the Northlands. 'Twas a fun-filled weekend:
Wed: H&N arrive in eve after helacious traffic from the Northlands, we sip wine and chat 'til late.
Th: up late, Cricket Cafe for b-fast, hang out at Hive, walkies in neighborhood, Bridgeport AleHouse, fetch H&N from Lady Gaga and introduce 'em to Voodoo Donut, hang out chatting at Hive, go out for late night dogs at Zach's Shack, to bed sometime after 3am.
Fri: up late, Hillbilly Bento for lunch, Sock Dreams (but of course), wandering Sellwood's antique shops and art boutiques, Clogs 'n' More, SE Hawthorne & 12th food carts for dinner, Inception (the movie), Pagan Jug Band w/
ferociousbcycad & S, e-Room for some dancing, and finally a much needed nosh at 24-hr HotCake & Steak house. Up late (3am-ish) again.
Sat: up late (yeah, definite trend here ;-), Sapphire Hotel for nice leisurely brunch, Clogs & More to get what they'd oh-so-nicely retrieved from other stores for us, Sock Dreams to fill in gaps from previous expedition (this time w/S in tow), then g'bye to them and hang out & walkies w/step-sis in town from Bay Area for memorial service of an old friend's parent, then an early night (in bed at eight something for 12+ hours...I needed it!)
Phew! Luckily it's been nice 'n' mellow (mixed in w/GoGoGo), so I'm ready for the next bits. Awaiting upcomings w/great anticipation (but little expectation). :-)
Realization: my b-day season has now officially begun. It's a fine one this year. How would YOU like to celebrate w/me?

Date: 2010-08-23 02:36 pm (UTC)I would like to celebrate with you drinking tea and maybe making cookies (if we can find egg-free ones that are yummy...maybe shortbread?). But mostly drinking tea and chatting.

Date: 2010-08-23 03:17 pm (UTC)As for how I'd like to celebrate with you...hmm...I think walkies through someplace arboreal to "discover" a High Tea style picnic along the way, good food, tasty beverages, excellent conversation, and a whole world of beauty spread before us. Because I'd love to hear you exclaim with delight, the way you do, about all the things you experience.
Happy Birthday Season!
