Is it insane to consider grad school? Is it insane to do so b'c (a) I don't wanna work again yet, and (b) I wanna go to Burning Man and can't go unless I start school a few weeks after Labor Day, such as UCLA, unlike most elem schools?

Depends on several factors. The two you give here sound reasonable if they are priorities. I can sympathize with A to some extent. Never been to Burning Man so I couldn't comment there.

part of me says "yea, insane" and part of me says " go for it". I don't like school, I didn't like the student teachingI did, I would love to see you at Burning Man, I dont know if I will go considering it is something like 200 bucks. Heck, I don't know. Helpful, eh?

Is there something wrong with doing the insane?

Now that's a damned fine qx...thx for putting it into this perspective and shining the light of nonjudgmental irrationality on't. All sorts of things 'long the line of what I "should" do pop into mind. Must explore this further...

Maybe it's because I have had a long week, but I would wonder what you were doing. It depends on a lot. What else would you study? Is this to add a specialty to your credential? I heard someone say once that life is meaningful when we are using our talents, abilities, and resources to make postive contributions to the world around us and the lives of others. This does not mean that I think you are insane for wanting to go to burning man or that I think you should or should not go to school. I would ask first, why exactly are you going to graduate school? What do you hope to accomplish? Some people would kill for the time and resources to go to graduate school. If it is just to buy time to have fun, why not skip grad school, or send some deserving relative to grad school, and just go and have a good time? Why not cut out the middle man? The real question (and I ask this sincerely) is why you are asking the question in the first place?
