Wine: It's What's For After Dinner
Nov. 9th, 2007 10:40 pmTonight's post-prandial adventures took us to Carpe Vinum (Seize the Wine!) for the trad'l Friday night wine tasting. The South African wines we sampled were quite tasty, but not always in a good way.
We found the first wine contained notes of smoky bacon, foot cheese, burnt wooly mammoth and nuances of torture. It might be good w/tacos.
Notes on the second sample read simply: leather underpants, hothouse flowers, and gravel.
The third we labeled Something Peppery This Way Comes.
The fourth went well w/Tillamook pepperjack cheese as 'twas rich, silent, earthy, apple-y. Overall a fine biker-wine (in a good way).
We quite liked the fifth and final wine - Darling Cellars 2003 ONYX Shiraz Darling. It was the teaser wine. It had lovely legs, turned me on, and made me drool. And all the bottles beyond the taster were sold out. So it goes... ;-)
