Took the car into the shop this morn so am now stuck here for the day, which should force me to do what I must. Procrastination is just 'bout officially over and setting down to work is in the works. Looking about hoping for something shiny to grab my attention for a bit longer. Dang. Everything shiny now is what I must do. Good. Everything shiny now is that I must do. Shining and glowing and calling, beckoning: Deal With Me. Trick is (and it's what I'm gearing up for by tip-tapping away right now) to let the rational mind go, to let instinct take over, to send that often useful and interesting and sometimes annoying bit of myself that (or is it a tendency to) stands aside/above me and watches what I'm doing and provides running commentary...shoo fly shoo.

Of course, it's Monday and the damg gardeners are here blowing leaves about w/their gas-powered machines from he!! This is why I often head for the hills on Mondaze. But since my car's in the shop... (Must stop remembering that I've got another car...and 'twould be fun to put the top down and cruise up the coast for lunch at Malibu Seafood - bad Em, bad Em.) Unfortunately, this isn't mostly stuff that I can take and do elsewhere. It's mostly assembling stuff, sorting stuff, deciding on where to stick stuff and how to categorize stuff, then typing up the blah blah blah bullpuckey. Plus I've gotta do ten (or perhaps only nine) weeks worth of weekly reflections. Oops, was supposed to have done 'em weekly, as I went along. Didn't happen, though, so I get to sort through my notes and pull carp outta my butt (wonderful imagery, what?) and spend a couple or few hours recreating my thought processes - this is when I'm happy to have that alter ego, the one what hovers 'round me feeding me running commentary, 'cause all I've gots to do it listen and tip-tap away and it'll be done. 'Cause I'm not sure anybody's gonna actually read this anyway. I remember testing this theory at various times in elem school, high school, and even college (but NOT in law school - just not funny anymore): turning in a paper w/a few lines or even an entire made-up paragraph essentially asking "hello, is anybody home - are you reading this or can I get away with saying anything I feel like in the middle of the paper b'c all you really read is the 1st paragraph, the final paragraph, and perhaps skim some of the rest of it." Actually turned in a paper in 2d (or was it 3d?) grade on Florence Nightengale which said "Florence Nightengale was a very very very very very [ad nauseum] good nurse." Actually got into a bit of trouble for it, in retrospect. I'm off.

I had a friend who proved the theory right with one teacher who gave them so much it was obviously busy work. He wrote one paragraph, then the entirety of "old mac donald had a farm" and got it back with an A. He thought it funny, and showed his dad who also taught at his school. His dad thought it was funny, and showed the principal, who did not find it funny. Their work load dropped significantly after that ( :
