Today, [livejournal.com profile] delerium3 & I completed the final portion of the Wildwood Trail - the single longest trail in Forest Park at 30.16 miles. We also walked the entire Morak Trail - the shortest trail in Forest Park at 0.08 mile. In addition, we picked up the final bit of Holman Lane and walked the entire length of Firelane 1 (w/the best views we've seen in over 50 miles of hiking in Forest Park over the past 5 months). Somehow we accomplished all this by hiking only 3.51 miles (2.89 new + .62 backtracking). This feels particularly good in light of the fact that what we have left to hike (only 28.07 miles to go!) will include, perforce, must backtracking.

When I'm less exhausted, I'll take another look at the map to try to determine the most efficient routes to hike the remaining dozen or so firelanes and numerous other roads 'n' trails 'n' connector bits remaining.

Oh, there's still time to sponsor us, as we're doing this in large part to raise money for the Forest Park Conservancy, as well as b'c it's a fun thing to do that gets us out 'n' about 'n' into Nature lots.

Timing worked well today. On my way back from hiking, I stopped by the Crystal Ballroom to snag tix for Jonathan Coulton opening for They Might Be Giants, what'll likely be a FAB show on Th, 11/10/11. Then I realized that 'twas Tuesday, so txt'd [livejournal.com profile] ferociousbcycad who ended up joining me at Blue Monk for another great Pagan Jug Band show.

Today was just what I needed.
