Astoriaversary #3

lightfoote ("ALF") as we celebrated our Third (3rd) Astoriaversary (anniversary of our 1st date, which took place the 3rd weekend of October 2007 in Astoria, OR).
It coincided with my first AVA/IVV (and ALF's 53rd!) event, a 10K outside Astoria, OR, at Ft Steven's State Park. This was no coincidence. I'm taking Volkswalking through PCC this term largely because of ALF's fond recollections of his Volksmarching days when stationed in Germany in the early 1980s (combined w/my desire for motivation for more regular exercise and walkies, which having as a class requirement provides me). It's been over a quarter-century since ALF's done this, so it's really nice to share it (IT = my starting and his return to this sorta thing).
'Twas a do-it-yourself (on your own schedule) Year-Round Event (YRE) rather than a traditional event w/a bunch of other people. The latter's what ALF's done before, and what I'm looking forward to participating in before long myself. As luck/timing would have it, there's a traditional (as opposed to YRE) event scheduled the weekend of our next Hive date (first weekend of Nov 2010). *bounce*
Much silliness and laughter characterized this past weekend, as well as good views, good food, good conversation, and visiting w/good people (including a last minute film production meeting at Petting Zoo). I'm a happy camper, thrilled w/the close connection(s) and on-going shared life-bits w/ALF.
