Reason #497 I Love Living Here

Bureaucracy ain't nearly so thick/inhuman/stupid as in SoCal/elsewhere. My recent experience postponing jury service and again today dealings w/academic advising at Portland Community College (PCC) went swimmingly. All along the way I dealt with helpful, patient, interested, competent people w/out waiting too long. Now that I've gotten all that pesky prerequisite/placement test nonsense waived, I'm registered and enrolled in History of Oregon for Fall 2009 at a campus on a good bus line just two (2) miles from my house. Quite looking forward to it. Figure since I live here, I should know a bit more 'bout my state than the little bits of info I've picked up by stopping and reading stuff at Hwy rest stops, historical markers, &c. It's been several years since I've taken a class of any kind and I'm excited 'bout it.

Now that I've stopped beating myself up over feeling exhausted/ineffectual post-FW09 and I've gotten a good night's sleep, I'm getting tons done which feels great. I'm juggling an extra duck-load the rest of this Summer, as I'm not sure of certain matters (primarily cat-care concerns) so'm making two (or more) sets of plans per occasion, just in case. So pleased I'm staying in town this weekend b'c I need a rest from all the massive madness/bizzyness! BAPAMAP's on the agenda...

Particularly squee-worthy news: very happy to report that we3 (lightfoote, wildwoosi, and myself) will be celebrating their 1st HandFasting Anniversary w/a return to Breitenbush Hot Springs the 3rd weekend in September 2009.
