Up early today, cleaned the cabin in Big Bear, finished laundry, remade beds, packed the car, and drove home (via Newhall), all the while stoked & excited about the upcoming trip (to Carmel tonight, then Mendocino for 2 nights where I'll get to spend time w/a Dear Friend, then Carmel, then Lompoc to visit w/another Dear Friend I haven't seen in far too long). Then I got home. Now I'm tired, exhausted even, and the longer I wait to finish unpacking and repacking the car, the worse the rush hour traffic (outta town and in Sta Barbie) will be. Ugh & oof. Methinks I'm gonna nap for a bit, as originally planned, then do what I need to do and get outta Dodge.

Insanity, Modified
Aug. 21st, 2006 06:43 pmNot long ago, within the past hour in fact, I began an LJ post w/the subject line "Insanity" as follows: "May I not regret this... Off in a bit for Carmel," which made me think I'd prolly regret it, "it" being leaving for Carmel feeling this tired. So, after much back-and-forthing (initially typed as back-and-frothing which ain't as different as I'd like) and chatting w/friends, I've decided NOT to drive to Carmel tonight and then to Mendocino o'morrow, but instead will leave for Mendocino o'morrow morning and blast up Hwy 5 then cut over to 101 either via 580 or further North. Phew! That's a load off... ( Save for Later )
Discoveries
Aug. 21st, 2006 10:46 pmDriving back this evening - and many thx
ebony_sphinx for turning me onto Tipping the Velvet (delightful BBC production, I'm eager for more!) - a song came on that made me wanna skip going home but immediately start driving to Carmel (and thence to Mendo o'morrow). Luckily this urge hit just AFTER passing the 101 cutoff/on-ramp and by the time I wandered around that nasty-constructiony bit where you can no longer do what you used to be able to do fwy-wise I came to my senses. Hit the Repeat button and listened to it the rest of the way home...and will continue o'morrow.( Cont'd from Earlier )
