Day #1 went fine. 'Twas good. I'm relieved and pleased after last semester's massively hellacious start which went horridbly for weeks and weeks ('til 10/20/05 when I bailed). Exhausticated now. For some reason don't wanna say much 'bout the class quite yet. Not that there's any big deal or nuttin', just nothing in particular to report. Bigger news (or hopefully smaller in the future): I joined Curves and got in my first workout. I like the system and set-up. My goal: weigh what it says on my CDL, yeah, and regain more energy, feel better 'bout myself, blah blah blah.

Found a new Italian restaurant today too. Wonderful waiter from Capri w/such a thick accent I lost fully 30% of what he said. Good chow...and w/liquor license due in any week now.

Have found myself w/chunks of aft/eve time not yet filled. They'll get filled more when I'm more involved in the classroom. I did some stuff today, which was good. And one friend gave me a really good insight this morning, basically along the lines of not to worry that I don't do everything perfectly or even particularly well: I'm learning and learning comes from practice and experience and doing and not everything works, that's part of learning, and that's okay, so long as I learn and get better (progress). Not that I did anything horrible or anything today, just nothing particularly stellar either. But so far at least it's SUCH a more positive experience than last semester. Thinkin' I don't wanna jinx it by saying too much or being too positive. One really good thing: 'twas the teacher & staff Soul Food Potluck in honor of Black History Month - Feb's also Dental Health month which cracks me up - and the food was GREAT, 'specially the jambalaya and the banana pie: YUM! So far morale seems far higher here than at the school last semester. (And I do try to abide by my Just Say No to Negativity policy, which I can't really do much 'bout at a workplace I'll be at for 9 weeks.)

Dang I'm rambling pretty awfully much...sign of exhaustication I'm thunking. Loads o' rain this morning and off and on all day. Lovely double-rainbow before class this morning (good omen, that). Unexpected fire drill before lunch, luckily between pour-downs. Realized a slight confusion exists re: my 1st observation by my seminar leader prof and supe: it's set for 10am on Tu, 3/2, 'cept Tu is 3/1 and this class (1st grade) has recess from 10am 'til 20 past. I'll check my official e-mail account o'morrow and hopefully clarity will...damg (combo of dang and damn), can't think of the word: hopefully all will become clear, be clarified, become ghee. It's been a while, but I used to use ghee as a verb meaning to clarify, and sometimes as an adjective to describe clarity/having been clarified...guess it's back in use again. Interesting how phrases wander through one's vocab. Whassisname (sorry Eain, too tired to figure out how to stick a link in here to your LJ entry / username) [livejournal.com profile] eain earlier today posed the qx/raised the issue 'bout how the phrase "given to understand" came about and what it actually means/refers to. Methinks it's like "been lead to believe," which makes me think of taking horses to water but not being able to make 'em drink...which of course you CAN do with a length of rubber hosing (images of James Herriott spring to mind). Wow. Major mental jigsaw puzzle pieces tossed up into the air and landing all over the place. Sorta like tossed salad. Without croutons. Never been much of a crouton lover. (Oh, so do NOT go there, anywhere, with this...unless you can be clever, in which case I'd love to see what could be said/dreamed up.)
