A Really Good Long Weekend

hbergeronx came up to visit this past weekend (Fri night 'til yesterday eve). 'Twas delightful. We balanced getting out and about w/staying in and mellowing, ate quite well, talked lots, listened to music (I lurv the CD he made for me!), shared movies we loved w/each other (each liking t'other's selections, which is happy-making), had a fine time together, &c.

The movies we watched ended up having similar themes 'n' "feels": Dead Alive (my choice), Dellamorte Dellamore aka Cemetery Man (his choice), The Shivers (his choice), and The Ruling Class (my choice).



Fri, 11/04/11: Evening PDX arrival w/supper at Sapphire Hotel.

Sat, 11/05/11: Slept in, then snagged jaylake & the_child for lunch at Dick's Kitchen, highlighted by really good 'n' useful conversations 'tween hbergeronx & the_child'bout life/career of a scientist and how cancer & chemo work and interact. After dropping 'em back off at home again, we headed downtown for tasty seafood at Jake's Famous Crawfish and a really good, engaging, thought-provoking one-man play, The Real Americans. Afterward we enjoyed tasty desserts at Pix. Mmmmm...

Sun, 11/06/11: Wandered lots around my neighborhood, enjoyed Fall colors 'n' sunset 'n' views from Mt Tabor, played frisbee, got books at my local Powells, &. Wandered the foodcarts at Good Food Here (I'm excited b'c the Viking Soul Food cart is now here...even if'n closed on Sundays) and chowed down on tasty goodness from Namu. Toured Movie Madness (and picked up more movies to watch). Had tasty tasty meat 'n' pizza at Apizza Scholls.

Mon, 11/07/11: Did more walkies around the neighborhood, b-fast'd at Cup & Saucer, took bus to Willamette waterfront for OMSI for BodyWorlds: The Brain (WOW!) and to play w/the hands-on stuff (including hbergeronx's successfully construction of a tall Lego structure topped w/dodgeball (as if 'twere a water tower) that survived the push-button earthquake!), and early dinner at Pok Pok w/more tasty treats from Pix.

Tu, 11/08/11: We headed back downtown to visit Lan Su Chinese Garden and enjoy tea in the Teahouse in the Tower of Cosmic Reflection. Before heading to PDX so he could return home once again, we headed up into the hills of Washington Park for a stroll through the Rose Gardens and a visit to the Thorn Elementals near the Children's Playground. Finally, we hit Voodoo Donut, a fine final stop on a whirlwind tour of Portland.
