Balance...Sigh

Managed to walk around the house some without using the walker today! Even went outside and got the mail. Left leg's still booted for another few weeks, but this shows definite progress.

It almost makes up for my current bout of tech issues. Something's preventing me from burning CDs on my laptop. I tried transferring the songs to another laptop, but these CDs wouldn't burn there either. Perhaps the bottom 2/3 of the current CD spindle are indeed defective.

nough hassling w/it for now. Gonna keep on listening to music and'll eventually get this resolved - or figure out another process to follow. I've had enough good stuff to make today a minor win.

Happy New Year

Wishing y'all a happier, healthier 2022! After getting out and about yesterday for the first time in ages, I felt (pleasantly) exhausted. Crawled into bed before 8:30pm last night after barely staying awake for whatever show/movie was playing on TV and realizing it was too much effort. Read more... )

Music Organization / CDs &c.

Okay, going to give this a try. Into my way back machine to start once again using LJ nka DW to help me process thoughts/ideas and make potential plans. Trying to articulate what I mean can sometimes help me figure things out.

BRING in "FMY Mix-Tapes" (1-5? 6? 7A? 8?) from car. CAR. SHOP (downstairs). CDs w/COVERs. On PHONE?

To Be Continued...

Sleep...Or Not

At times the past few days all I've wanted to do is curl up and sleep, but I don't really wanna slide down that Rabbit Hole o' Despair/Sadness. Felt fully exhausted last night though, so crawled into bed a bit before 11pm. Woke up not long after 1am, and really didn't fall back asleep again, although I may've dozed a bit. Finally got up sometime after 5am and started watering outside.

Trying to figure out what's best to do w/myself. I've been spending time w/friends, which is good, and on my own, which doesn't feel so great but probably ain't a bad idea. Realizing I really don't care for living One Day At A Time. My preference = having stuff to look forward to. Anticipation = Good. Recently though I'd had anticipation of Bad Stuff, and now it's come to pass. What all am I going on about now? I really don't know. And I'm not gonna analyze the crap outta it either.

Canceled on one friend today to help another. Don't feel great about it, but it's done.

Okay, listening to music now, which helps (as it so often does). Pulled up the Cancer Mix that [livejournal.com profile] jaylake passed along a few years ago. He made it (I believe) after his initial cancer presentation and it helped him through, so I figured it might help me now that Cancer won the battle w/him (although he certainly gave it a run for its money).

Today: things & stuff (including Godzilla, potato salad prep, UL date night w NBA game)
Tmrw: it'll be exactly 50 years after JayLake was born. A few of us (the Tribe) will have a celebratory/memorial BBQ in his honor.
Sat: attending fambily & close friends memorial service (bringing lots o' Kleenex)
Sun: trad'l brunch w/another group o' Dear Friends, dress-up photog bday party for another friend, possibly attending a Pagan Jug Band show (they're playing Ford Food Drink in conjunction w/a book signing)

Pics > Words for Today (Mostly)

Yay live music! Pics here of Mark Eitzel & His Mighty Band Play PDX - 06/29/13.

YAY EVEN MORE LIVE MUSIC, THIS TIME OUTSIDE ALONG THE WILLAMETTE RIVER! Yesterday I finally made it out to the Waterfront Blues Fest where I thoroughly enjoyed the music of the Transcendental Brass Band, Atomic Gumbo (Zydeco Swamp Romp), John Primer, Taj Mahal Trio, Mavis Staples, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, and, last, but by no means least, Robert Plant w/the Sensational Space Shifters. Lots of my pics can be found HERE.

Also, yay SteamPunk (even though I missed the Abney Park concert Sat night). On 07/05/13 and again post-Waterfront Blues Fest on 07/07/13, I helped shuttle and shuffle stuff around and in 'n' out for GearCon 2013, 'specially the Art Salon curated by [livejournal.com profile] ferociousbcycad. As usual, you can check out my pics at the Flickr set.

Today I spent 2.5 hours reviewing and signing lotsa documents. Soon, soon, soon...

I'm particularly interested in the show at Washington Park on Th, 5 Aug 2010 @ 6pm entitled DRUMS FROM TWO CONTINENTS: An explosive evening of Japanese and Brazilian drumming and choreography featuring Portland Taiko and The Lions of Batucada.

Hmm, that looks like a fine first weekend of August 2010: great drumming on Th (8/5/10), FREE Shakespeare on Fri/Sun (8/6-8/10) (A Midsummer Night's Dream @ Reed Amphitheater), and SherryWorlds aka FW10 Decompression that Sat. *bounce*

Music Consolidation Process - Cont'd

It felt SO good today b'c I managed to shift/copy (I really don't know which) all the music from the olde/other external hard drive onto my new iTunes-folder hard drive. This MIGHT mean I now have all the music from the desktop 'puter upstairs, but I need to double check to be sure. What I do know is that quantity of music has risen/swollen from just under 300GB to just under 320GB (just over 17,000 items). Read more... )

Dear LazyWeb:

Has anybody out there been to a show at the Showbox at the Market in Seattle? I'd like to know thoughts/opinions/hints/suggestions about seeing shows there.

Unless it's horrid, I'm quite interested in heading out yonder for VNV Nation on Wed, July 1, 2009 (tix = $25 + $2 svc charge if purchased at the box office M-F 11am-6pm).

Other Good Upcoming Shows Include:

The Orb - Mon, June 15, 2009 (I prolly won't go to this, but I saw The Orb years ago at the new Disney Symphony Hall and 'twas a FAB experience).

Rev Horton Heat - Fri, July 10 & Sat, July 11, 2009. Oooooooh, THIS would be great, assuming the venue's decent.

Awesome weekend. I'm back at the Hive massively recharged and excited about upcomings. Must hop to it though and start lining up the next ducks in a row (as well as putting away the previously used ones). Peace Out Zoom!
