Summing Up

Another glorious w'end. It all began w/dinner at Cedars-That-Is-No-Longer up in Seattle. Major yum! Really nice as well to see folks I don't get to see very much nowadays.

Afterwards, [livejournal.com profile] lightfoote and I blazed all the way down to the Hive rather than sleep over at Sidhehaven and have to drive s'more on Friday. The threatened Winter-ish storm never materialized in Portland. No snow, just some hail and a bit of (well-timed) rain mixed w/intermittent bouts of sunshine and pretty cloudiness.

Friday featured the Flounce...and more. Saturday we walked and walked and walked, finally taking the bus up Hawthorne Blvd at the very end of the day, arriving back at the Hive just as the rain began. You can see and experience so much more when you walk than when you drive. We wandered through Laurelhurst Park, scored goodies (free CDs and candy!) at Music Millenium, found the new home of the Velveteria (Museum of Velvet Paintings), happily hit Hippo hardware, saw oodles of folks waiting for what looks like a fine place numbly chow - Screen Door, drank good beer and played pool at the Lucky Lab, bought books at Powell's, walked over two (2) more bridges (Burnside and Morison - my goal is to walk over all those that allow pedestrians), &c.

Today we enjoyed a very pleasant visit to McMenamins 205 w/[livejournal.com profile] tanuki_green - looking forward to more time w/him and w/[livejournal.com profile] copperwise as well - 'til the time came to drive to the airport. And now...well, now I'm once again home alone (mostly - Havana and Fargo're silently sleeping)...and my heart's aching just a teensy bit.

Ooooh, big peal of thunder. The clouds're solid black out in one direction and the winds're picking up. Perhaps that big storm'll materialize this w'end after all...

I am envious of your storms. One of the things I loved about visiting midwest/east coast/pnw were the thunderstorms.

hey sweet!
Sorry I missed you Thursday for dinner; turned out my meeting was done early enough to bolt for home before the traffic hit, and I wanted to talk to Chris about the meeting w/publisher... actually missed your call because I was on the phone with him... but it was nice to know I had something to do if I'd been any later in the day. Dang early mornings really put a crimp in my flexibility :-(

I'm so glad you had a nice weekend, though *hugs* and *chocolate*
definitely let me know when you're in town and looking for a lunch partner, looking forward to paying you back :-*

How'd lunch this Wed (4/23/08) work for you? Just lemme know where and when...or whether to wait for a more convenient day. As I mentioned, I'm up yonder fairly often :-) *huggles* and *lemon tarts*

hmmm...
This wednesday I'll be working from home; if you didn't mind coming by our place I could swing lunch; I wouldn't be able to do an extended lunch, though, as I want to leave work on time to make it into seattle without traffic :-)
what do you say? we could go to Freds :-) mmmm...

[identity profile] mlerules.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd work just fine, as I'm seeing another friend in Kenmore that afternoon and want to stop by the Tea Lady for more chai anyway, so a regular-work-length lunch works just fine. I don't know Fred's...but'm excited to learn more places out yonder (Home North) for munching and crunching. What time shall we meet and where? I can drive us from your casa if'n you like and you can give directions.

[identity profile] siouxiequeue.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
that'd be easy-peasy - it's only a few blocks from here; a short walk on a nice day :-) meet me at mi casa then? how does 11:30 or so sound?

[identity profile] mlerules.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
11:30am-ish sounds perfect - see you then!

Neah Bay's daytime low tides (tidepooling!) (http://www.olypen.com/tidetables/nb-tides-2008-04.html) this w'end:
On Fri, 4/25/08: 11:06am
On Sat, 4/26/08: 11:55am.
On Sun, 4/27/80: 12:50pm.

I'm hoping for sunsets over the ocean, but'll be happy 'nuff just being there. Must go finish up my musical compilation for the Toad Rip...
