Quickie Shift Note re: Editing Myself

More and more lately I've noticed myself writing, then editing severely rather than following my Do Not Delete policy. It's not w/everybody though, only w/certain folks and/or on certain occasions. Dunno whassup w/that. Perhaps I'm trying to be uber-aware of how my words come across and wanting 'em to have the right flavor. Dunno why sometimes and not others though. Just noting for reference in case I wanna track it and unearth patterns down the road a fur piece.

Do not delete policy?

Generally I write and then if'n I realize what I've said ain't quite what I meant, rather than delete what I've already said, I'll note it as I go along and hold forth...or at least ramble even it not holding forth on any topic/issue in particular. See, I just did it there! It's one reason my thinkie-thought posts tend to contains lots of ellipses...indicative of shifts and ebbs and flows of my thought processes...as my mind turns 'n' churns, so my fingers tip-tap and the words come out, often all in a rush. Much of my writing to specific people is also like that, w/fits 'n' starts 'n' rambling 'n' sharing my thoughts as they flow. I do edit, but more for clarity than for deleting the process by which I reached the point I got to in the end. Dunno how clear this is, hopefully at least somewhat. I'll gladly clarify if/as desired (in general as well as here specifically), mind you.

Ahh, that's what I figured.

I've gotten into a Delete Everything policy, myself, but I get what you're saying.

I overuse those ellipses like an old time computer.

...thinking...thinking...thinking...

You know, sort of a 'pause for breath and thought here'...

;)

Heh, sounds like the typed equivalent of "ummm" for you. I use it more as a signal-shift that the flow's hit a rock and/or's eddying for a bit. But I totally getcha and'm glad to know I ain't the only one... ;-P
