Saturday Night Fever
It's been a lovely day. Summer may actually be coming on now, although it's arrived a couple of times in the past month only to be scared off my lots of cool rain. It was sunny most of the day and got up to 77. It's cooling off now. Grey clouds wandered in for a while in the late afternoon, but they got bored and split.
This morning, Legend and I walked over to Sapphire Hotel for brunch, then did a loop around the neighborhood. I got some gardening in while he experienced the work-out of the rotary mower for the first time. The backyard's still too soggy to mow, but the front's all nice 'n' flat now (and less weedy, as he ripped out a bunch).
That was enough for me. I napped heavily after that. Still mega-low energy w/a large fambily of phlegm still living in my chest. It's not as bad as it was. The horrific coughing fits have passed. I'm hoping to evict all plague tenants soon and breathe easily and freely.
Legend's wandered off to Common Grounds - local coffeehouse to hang out - and I'm getting laundry done and reading more Charles de Lint. Yesterday I finished Widdershins, which I like a LOT. Lots of good thinkie-thoughts come outta it.
Now I'm getting into Medicine Road. The quote I like best so far is this: "We're not responsible for what other people want from us, only for what we do ourselves." Oh, yeah!
Nada much on my schedule for the next few days other than Taking It Easy & Getting Better (Damnit!). Monday I may well head over to the Bagdad for OMSI's Science Pub on the Science of Cheese (Cheese, Gromit!). Tuesday I hope to make it back to Charlies fka Clinton Corner Cafe for Pagan Jug Band. Hoping to head North on Thursday to pick
lightfoote up after work for a nice carpool together back to the Hive for a date weekend. If'n I'm not up for that, I'll get him from Union Station that night.

If I have a productive day Monday, I might join you at the science pub - Bagdad is only one busride away from here -
I'd love to see the Pagan Jug Band, but getting home from there involves a transfer downtown and hanging out on the bus mall, or on W Burnside, for between 20 to 30 minutes waiting for a connecting bus, or waiting at the Lombard transfer station for 20 minutes. I'm none too fond of hanging out at transfer points late at night, just taking the bus at night is scary enough.
I've loved CdL's books for years, they make the struggle seem hopeful...

If'n you think you're gonna make it on Mon, gimme a buzz (cell ph) and I'll meetcha there and/or save you a seat.
The Pagans play other venues as well: http://www.paganjugband.com/upcoming-shows.php And some Tuesday when I'm fully well we'll work it out and I'll give you a ride home afterward. Given my schedule the rest of this month though, it won't be anytime real soon. (Gah!)
Yes...a good way to see it. I'm now rereading 'em, having been turned onto 'em by a Dear Friend (and blood cousin) several years back. I've got a mind like a steel sieve so can read then reread books and get lots of pleasure outta 'em again (ditto movies - at least those I like).

I was just looking at the Bagdad's schedule this evening myself. I noticed in particular Alice in Wonderland tomorrow and the Science of Cheese on Monday, so maybe I'll see you there. :)

Do you think you're likelier to hit the 2pm or 5:15pm Alice this afternoon? Would you mind giving me a shout if'n you head out, as that might sway my decision. It'd be nice to see you again. :-) And if'n you head out for the Cheesy Goodness and wanted to sit together, you could give me a shout. (It not - or you just wanna leave it to chance, so no worries. :-)
