LOLTHULHU

I dropped my cell phone into the cat's water bowl this afternoon. I think it's working now though. Still, it's just feeling like one of those days b'c of this incident. Off in a bit for a fambily get-together. Then it's an early night b'c I've got another DDS date first thing o'morrow morning (crown prep).

EDIT: CELL PHONE'S NOT ALL BETTER...SIGH...

I hope that someday cell phones will stabilize to the point where a more bulletproof version would make sense. You ask a manufacturer for a waterproof cell phone these days, and it makes no sense: they want you to upgrade your plan with every broken bit of plastic!

Good luck getting all the data out of it, anyway. There's a lot of personal data wrapped into those chips.

Take the battery out, if it's removable, and put it in a tightly sealed container full of UNCOOKED rice. Leave it overnight -- at least 12 hours -- and then blow out the rice dust with a compressed air spray can and give it another shot.

Thx - yeah, it's actually in a sealed container w/uncooked rice right now (w/battery out). Hoping this'll work...

I've invoked Kali somehow myself and have been leaving a trail of destruction in my wake. I hope the phone is fixable or quickly replaceable.

Good luck,, but...

In my experience wet electronics seems to have this pattern:
Stuff gets wet (or damp from being in a cold place, then brought inside.
You open it and dry everything off.
Turn it on, it works fine.
Turn it off, then turn it on again.
The power light goes flash, there may be a pop and smoke.
The unit is dead.
More often than not, dampened electronics seem fire up once or twice before going dead forever.

Gah - thx for the input. I'm gonna make sure I take whatever I need off the device just in case. And mebbe it's time to take Verizon up on their early-switch-to-a-better-phone offer...
