Satisfaction

It's been a really nice weekend. 'Twas busy but balanced 'tween enjoying the outdoors and getting stuff done at home. Friday began early, leaving the house before 7:00am, meeting up w/folks for a great b-fast at Word of Mouth down in Salem. Then we set off for carpooling & caravaning...and minor Alderwooding (getting lost) but not badly. We only backtracked once, adding just 2.3 miles extra to the Getting There portion of the journey, despite major map-lameness. Our destination: the Valley of the Giants. Dang 'twas gorgeous! CLICKIE FOR PICKIES.

Lush PacNW green moss, ferns, and huge olde trees. A river running through it. We ambled and meandered and eventually lunched at a picnic table out in the woods near swiftly flowing water underneath a canopy of trees. It's mid-February in Oregon and it was in the 50s w/the sun shining through at least part of the afternoon. Spring's in the air and I've got a goofy grin on my face.

Afterward we all decide not to head straight back to Salem (and thence back to Portland for me & [livejournal.com profile] lightfoote), but instead follow the back-logging roads, figuring that the one running mostly downhill near the river will eventually lead to the ocean. It did, and we ended up in Newport, OR visiting a friend of theirs (a couple of our new travel buddies) in a Yurt near the beach. Hunger yawned, and luckily I'd recently visited N-port so knew to suggest the Rogue Ales Pub where we enjoyed good food & beer & laughed at massively inappropriate stories. Still not wanting to call the evening done, we ended up walking out to the beach itself, marveling in the mellow weather, and savoring the experience.

I sat on the hill above the shore, moving my fingers back and forth in the fine cool sand, watching the outlines of waves crashing, wondering about the one red and three/four green lights flickering on and off (buoys, most likely), reveling in the feel of the breeze like a soft caress on my face, feeling so happy and joyous that my life contains unplanned moments like these. Eventually we walked back, getting mildly lost, but ultimately following the frogs home to the parking lot as I'd predicted. By the time we got back home Friday night, it was just about Midnight. *yawn*

Saturday featured a good sleep-in session flowing nicely into a good late b-fast visit w/[livejournal.com profile] vismaya_viewer & [livejournal.com profile] stinkys_nunzio and a stop by a local spot where possibilities & plans were brought even closer to reality. After they went on their merry way touring more of PDX, ALF & I headed out to IKEA. (I'd already tried Craigs list, but to no avail.) I now have a much more comfie living room. Saturday evening's plans were chucked in favor of the trad'l (and non-driving) night of pizza at Apizza Scholls followed by dessert at Sapphire Hotel (Lavendar Choco Martini :-) It was delightful and perfect.

Today I assisted [livejournal.com profile] lightfoote in the building of the IKEA stuff (adding to my already sizable collection of Allen wrenches ;-) Before dropping him off at Amtrak to return to CopperMoon, we partook of tea & snacks at the (also trad'l) Teahouse in the Tower of Cosmic Reflection at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in downtown Portland (a few blocks from Union Station).

Now I'm relaxing and decompressing and tidying and practicing Being At Peace As Much As Possible, realizing that I'm quite pleased to reach this goal often - and pledging to continue as well.

Life is good. :-)

And right now, thanks to the tech brilliance of [livejournal.com profile] ferociousbcycad, my satisfaction is enhanced b'c I'm listening to my iPod through my stereo (w/much better sound than the laptop)!

Your life, written as a book, would have to be contained in quite a few volumes. Yay for magical adventuring...it seems to be in the air. Loving you.
