Solo Road Trip - Day 2
First things first: Happy B-day to
stacymckenna!
The rest are in no particular order...
Secondly: Nobody gets any responses/comments to posts today other than here (and even this much remains doubtful). I'm at the Redding Best Western (4th or 5th time since August, so I've signed up for the Gold Card, for what it's worth). I get to access the internet for free via the SLOWEST "Hi-Speed" connection EVER. It times out when I try to reply to anybody's post, so after several abortive attempts, I've given up...and just hope that this posts okay so I don't have to waste any more time before heading out to the jacuzzi (open 'til 10pm, luckily). They're refurbishing the rooms and I'm in one of the ones w/CD-player (part of alarm clock) and TV w/DVD player (about 50 available to borrow at the front desk...luckily I brought a couple w/me 'cause the selection's fairly tepid) and VHS-player (neglected to bring any along).
Thirdly: Contrats ceolyn (sp) on the motorcycle license - coo-el!
Fourthly: BUT SO NOT LEASTLY: mega-thx to ebonysphynx (sp) for the compilations - I'm enjoying 'em tremendously! Also, your description of the muffins made me drool (not to mention the 5-course Injun din-din). Have a fab time tonight...please pass along hugz from me.
Fifthly: Thx as well to sidhefire for the music you gave me last visit that I've listened to on and off since then and is once again in heavy rotation as I wing Northward.
Sixthly: saw a whole mess of birdies today - solo birds o' prey (sitting, flying, road-kill) as well as (once closer to Sacto) flock-types (some long-necks, some not, and some that were too big to be butterflies but had that same sort of flittery-fluttery flight pattern...they seemed more like bats than anything else but I don't think multi-dozens o' bats'd be out flocking Northward at approx 4pm). Some flocks were following the trad'l V-formation w/about a dozen members. Others must've had several hundred members...they appeared to be swarming...kinda unnerving as very reminiscent (sp) of M Crichton's Prey.
Seventhly: reminded again that the sunset lasts a good long time here...fully an hour after it dipped below the hills 'twas still light in the sky
Eighthly: am working on a new photo technique: holding it up and taking pics (snapshots in an earlier era) out the window whilst moving...not sure how good they came out 'cause I really couldn't focus on looking at 'em ('cause dying for the shot's not req'd in my book).
Ninethly: the Best Western Road Map of CA - NV - HI amuses me...why this particular triumvirate?
I'm sure I've forgotten something...many things in fact. Not really feeling tired...very happy and relaxed...and glad not to be driving right now.
FAB day today...good long drive (9:30am - 7:15pm) from Lompoc to Redding. Drank 3 liters of water...visited many rest/truck-stops...and had a great and somewhat bizarre bazaar experience at one of 'em: I finally found the long-sought-after Pilot fine-point pens that've eluded me for YEARS - am highly amused that I've had NO luck at Staples, Office Despot, UCLA student store, USC student store, and numerous stationary and office supply stores yet find just what I want at a freakin' TA Truck Stop on Santa Nella (Hwy 5). I've been rationing 'em and hoarding 'em, and now have 10 brand-spanking new ones - huzzah!
Sights, sounds, etc. I was gonna post pics but won't even try w/this connection. 'Nother time. O'morrow = off to Portland, OR via Ashland where I hope to enjoy elevenses w/a friend (hoping for a round of darts and some pub food at The Black Sheep).
Today's mini-epiphanies(tm) include:
Take The Long Way Home = my newest life motto addition
My Virgo tendencies come to the fore when I travel: everything has a place and I know where things are.
One reason I really like Sleep Dep is that it's when my intuition comes out...fewer filters interfere...processing happens internally and not so much at all at my direction...
something something something about Truth...filtered or not...still True...Falsity comes from motivation to be false and/or extreme discrepancies 'tween subjective and objective (some quota of others' subjective) viewpoints (latter needs much expanding/refining/more/growth...but good potential exists).
NOW I'm off to the jacuzzi under the stars w/the Cheshire Cat moon overhead...
