I actually had to train myself to make /decisions/ and not just waffle endlesly in circles.

It's weird, I warn you, but it worked:

I would take a catalog, and make a silly 'reason' to choose things. Start small- say it's a catalog with jewlery in it. I would say, okay, so if I lived in an urban tribal situation, what form of jewlery would I choose to wear as 'my' tribe's mark? ...then slowly ramp it up- use imaginary reasons, so you don't stress about YOUR situation (don't try to pick out a perfect kitchen ensamble for your house...) ...go crazy, like, 'the world apocaylpse came, and you have a big uhal fulla gas, but the only warehouse no one has raided is this REI one... grab that catalog, and decide... what things would you pack in it, to ensure the survival of your clan/group/people? (hey, boats are great, but only so many fit in there. And how many boxes of MRE's do you think is IN that one single warehouse?)

See how that works? It helps you learn to make decisions... THEN start making it personal- try taking a catalog and give yourself 500 bucks to spend, and choose what you'd buy- with the caveat that it has to be as gifts for others...

...eventually, you can take catalogs and 'shop' for yourself, if you were going to a concert and needed that brand of clothing, for example... or designing the perfect camping trip... or whatever!

It helped me. It didn't SOLVE it, but it did help!
