On the Lighter Side...
Today's a quiet, mellow, lovely, warm, quite nice day. I'm having a fine time getting all sortsa good sh!t DONE. The piles're shrinking. (Preparation-H w/H = "Have at" ;-) Meanwhile, other piles're growing: stuff for GoodWill, stuff for the barter fair at the upcoming Feast of St Crispy, stuff for recycling, &c. I've even made a pass through the attic and found some obvious stuff to pass along. Yes, it's kinda amusing to stumble upon my wedding dress receipt from 09/04/88, but I really don't need it ('specially as I passed the dress itself along to the Salvation Army years ago).
Adding to the niceness of the day is listening to new (to me) music, a past-time I enjoy very much. Meanwhile, the neighbor next door to the North (Pixie's dad) weed-wacked our shared driveway (unclear who it belongs to - city records don't help - yet another reason I'm glad I rent and don't hafta deal w/stuff like unclear title ;-) After chatting w/the new(ish) neighbor to the West, he offered me a chunk of salmon as he'd just finished fileting the 5 he caught yesterday on the Clackamas, near Milo Macgiver (sp) park (which I know from canoodling there last year). So, I'll have an impromptu BBQ here at the Hive this aft/eve.
I do so like having good neighbors, and being home some to get to know 'em, too. My zooming's been good. And I've got s'more upcoming which'll be splendid, too. But now I'm remember anew why 'tis I wanna make staying local more of a priority. (Mebbe I'm a bit of hypocrite - or perhaps just plain wacky - by initiating f/r-ships further afield ;-) What happens is this [NOTE: justification/rationalization time at hand ;-] - I start down a path, expend energy 'n' time, and then, since I've already invested of myself, it's harder to stop, although now that I think on't, perhaps merely cutting back, or not pouring quite so much of myself into it might be the wiser course of action, would suffice as acting wisely...wholesale stoppage ain't necessary (and certainly ain't what I wanna do!) Then again, mebbe I'll just do what I freakin' feel like...gorramit!
Last night I floated. 'Twas good. Had a hard time turning off my mind, but managed to do so a few times before the hamster got back to't. The guys working that last shift were both sporting fantastic facial hair. When I asked what was up, I learned 'bout the World Beard & Moustache Championships. This just thrills me to bits, 'specially when I heard that one of 'em'd saw it on the internet, then decided to snag a friend to join him in not shaving for 6 months so they could compete, which they did, having a fine time spending a couple weeks in Trondheim, Norway at same. I love my life, where I stumble upon such people in my usual wanderings. :-)
