WanderLust & Reconnections
I've said it before, and now reiterate: WanderLust is REAL. Luckily, I managed to scratch that itch well recently, with a slightly wacky car - train - plane - car trip to SoCal & Back Again. A friend invited me to join him and other folks to co-work yesterday, providing me with a chance - and a location with far fewer distractions than Hive Magnum aka home - to finish culling and sorting the oh-so-many photos from this trip. Still need to upload 'em though.
This process has gotten more cumbersome since my laptop's become overfull with data, so I cannot have Flickr (Firefox) open at the same time as iPhotos (or whatever it's called these days). WhatEVER. I'll deal. Anyway, soon I'll post links to pics here, for those who'd like to play along from home. It's not the same as FB or IG, where I post daily (or as near as can be since sometimes I'm outta cell/'net range). Yet we (or at least I) managed to live without instant communication for most of our lives.
"SLOW DOWN MY DUDES" has become a bit of a watchword around here. It's from a handmade (folk art?) painted wooden sign near Devil's Cauldron. It features a surfer dude with thought bubble of "Slow Down, My Dudes," and struck us immediately as wise words. In fact, I had to turn the car around to go back for the photo opp. It's now the cover of a recent Mix-Tape aka CD Compilation entitled "Organic Accumulation." (Another story, not for here now.)
So, I cruised some of my absolute fave spots on my recent journeys, and found some new good return destinations. Music blasted along the way, except when I chose silence (less often, but sometimes what's desired). Went deep into the archives, and realized I've made a LOT of good Mixes in the past 8 years and a bit. Reconnected with places, and with routes, and with PEOPLE near and dear to me. (Near and dear to my heart, but geography often interferes w/good face-to-face time, especially when deep in the depths of worldwide pandemic.)
I needed that SO much, and I'm lucky to have the resources needed to make this so, which I appreciate greatly. Now, though, I feel the desire/need to reconnect w/more local folks, both in town (PDX) and within a few hours. I shall endeavor to make this so soon... Contact me!
