Today's Balancing Act: IRS & Food Carts, Ducklings Galore & 2nd Cthulhu Cake In A Week

Spent another hour on the phone with the IRS (mostly on hold), getting the last bit of info I needed to complete my letter to them which I got into the mail after a nice visit and food cart lunch w/[livejournal.com profile] lupagreenwolf.

Returned to Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden w/Lisa this afternoon. Goal: blossoms and ducklings. Boyoboy did we succeed in meeting our goals! Plenty of rhodies were in bloom (although a tad past the peak b'c of our unusually hot early May days). Uber-cute baby waterfowl were much in evidence. Goslings Galore! Delightful Ducklings (standard Mallard)! Wonderful Wood Ducklings! 'Twas really quite pleasant to wander around and enjoy the quite pleasant afternoon. Afterwards, we enjoyed a fine dinner of salad 'n' wings (yeah, we felt inspired ;-) at Fire on the Mountain.

After dropping Lisa off chez [livejournal.com profile] jaylake for the rest of the evening, I studied my options. Feeling pretty exhausted after hours in the hot sun, I chose just to stop by a friend's b-day party on my way home rather than travel cross town to join up w/other friends at Irving Kitchen. Had a very good time chatting w/folks and enjoying the 2nd Cthulhu Cake I've encountered in the past week. Is Cthulhu Cake the new Friday thing? We shall see...
